🎽 Which Commonwealth Games Sport Am I Built For?
Answer a few questions about your body and your fitness, and see which Commonwealth Games sports your build actually suits — scored as a % fit across 23 sports and 72 events.
Finding Your Commonwealth Games Sport
The Commonwealth Games programme is smaller than the Olympics, and it makes room for sports the Olympics doesn't: netball, lawn bowls, squash and cricket all have a home here. That shorter list is part of the appeal — a strong match is more meaningful when there are fewer sports to be matched against, and several of these are far more accessible to take up as an adult than most Olympic events.
This quiz scores you against benchmark profiles for Commonwealth Games events, then ranks them by how closely your build and fitness match. You get a #1 pick, a top 5 sports, and the full ranked list.
Commonwealth Games Sports Covered
Athletics, swimming, diving, cycling, triathlon, artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, boxing, wrestling, judo, weightlifting, basketball, netball, field hockey, rugby sevens, cricket, tennis, table tennis, badminton, squash, archery, shooting and lawn bowls — broken down into 72 individual events, because a sprinter and a shot putter share a sport but nothing else.
Note that the exact programme changes from one Games to the next, with host nations adding and dropping sports. This list covers the sports that appear regularly.
How to Take the Quiz
- About you: Your sex and age, so we compare you to the right benchmarks.
- Measurements: Height, body weight and arm span, in metric or imperial. Arm span is fingertip to fingertip with your arms outstretched.
- Performance & strength: Eight questions on sprint speed, running endurance, vertical jump, push-ups, pull-ups, squat strength, flexibility and agility.
- Experience: Sports you've already played, years training, and the highest level you've competed at.
Everything is optional. Skip what you don't know — only the answers you give are scored, and your results show a confidence figure based on how much you filled in.
How the % Fit Score Works
- Benchmark bands: Each event has an ideal range for the attributes it depends on. The middle of the band scores highest, the score tapers to the edges, and falls away outside them.
- Event-specific weighting: Attributes matter differently by event — height dominates for netball's shooting positions, endurance for the 10,000m, flexibility for gymnastics.
- Partial answers: Weights are renormalised across what you answered, so an incomplete quiz still gives a sensible result.
- Skill-dominant sports: Lawn bowls, archery and shooting are damped, because physique predicts very little about who wins them.
- Experience bonus: Sports you've played get a boost that scales with how long you played them — from about 2 percentage points for under a year up to 9 for more than ten years. You set the duration per sport, so a decade of netball counts for more than one term of judo.
What the Result Does and Doesn't Mean
A high fit score means your physical profile resembles that of athletes who do well in that event. It is a shortlist of sports worth trying, not a prediction of how far you'd go. Coaching, consistency, opportunity and enjoyment decide that — and lawn bowls in particular is a reminder that plenty of sports reward things a tape measure can't see.
