Measuring Strength Progress

Strength training rewards patience, and patience is much easier when you can see progress you'd otherwise miss. Adding a rep at the same weight, or the same reps at a slightly better bodyweight ratio, is real progress even when the number on the bar hasn't moved. The tools here exist to make those changes visible.

Estimated one-rep max is the most useful of them. Rather than testing a true maximum — which is fatiguing, needs spotters, and carries some risk — you can estimate it from a set you've already done using established formulas like Epley and Brzycki. That estimate then drives your working percentages for a training programme.
