Room Area Calculator (Multi-Room)

Calculate the area of one or more rectangular rooms/sections and sum them for a total area.

Enter Dimensions for One Room/Section

For L-shaped rooms, calculate each rectangular part separately and add them.

Calculating Room & Total Area

This calculator helps you find the area of individual rectangular rooms or sections and then combines these areas to give you a total. This is useful for estimating materials like flooring, paint (for ceilings), or for general space planning.

How to Use the Calculator

  1. Room/Section Name (Optional): Give a name to the room or section you are measuring (e.g., "Living Room," "Kitchen Area," "L-Shape Part 1"). This helps in tracking if you add multiple areas.
  2. Enter Dimensions: Input the Length and Width of the current rectangular room or section.
  3. Select Unit: Choose whether your measurements are in meters or feet. This unit will be used for all calculations until changed.
  4. Add to Total: Click the "Add Room/Section to Total" button. The area of the current dimensions will be calculated and added to a running list and total. The input fields will then clear for your next entry.
  5. Repeat for Multiple Areas: If you have more rooms or sections (like parts of an L-shaped room), repeat steps 1-4 for each.
  6. View Summary: The "Area Summary" section will update with each addition, showing a list of all areas added and the cumulative total area.
  7. Clear/Reset: Use "Clear Last Added" to remove the most recent entry or "Reset All" to clear all entries and start over.

Calculating L-Shaped or Complex Rooms

For rooms that are not simple rectangles (e.g., L-shaped, T-shaped):

  1. Visually divide the complex room into smaller, non-overlapping rectangular sections.
  2. Measure the length and width of the first rectangular section. Enter these dimensions, give it a name (e.g., "Living Room - Section A"), and click "Add Room/Section to Total."
  3. Measure the length and width of the second rectangular section. Enter these, name it (e.g., "Living Room - Section B"), and add it to the total.
  4. Continue for any other sections. The calculator will sum the areas of all these individual rectangular parts to give you the total area of the complex room.

Tips for Accurate Measurement

Disclaimer: This calculator provides area estimates based on the dimensions you input. Ensure your measurements are accurate. For material purchases (like flooring), always consult with suppliers and typically add a waste factor (e.g., 10-15%) to the calculated area.
